Drunk Tanks

Article from the BBC which looks at the idea of introducing commercially operated 'Drunk tanks', to reduce alcohol related anti-social behavior and ease the pressure on policing. Individuals who are intoxicated and pose a risk to themselves would be placed in a cell to sober up. To be operated by private sector companies, individuals would pay for the service through fixed penalties and they would only be detained by the police in the event that their drunkenness had resulted in a crime being commuted.
